drugdependence.co.uk was created in 2003 as a site dedicated to teaching medical and other health care students the prinicples of substance misuse, its assessment and treatment.

The site has progressed from a basic website providing lecture notes to medical students at the University of Sheffield School of Medicine to a more dynamic site for the wider student body, including lecture notes, online assessments, case studies and discussion fora.
